New Clare Sports Show Takes To The Airwaves

The Weekly Sports Show on Raidió Corca Baiscinn (92.5 and 94.8) has a new time slot on Mondays live from 6pm to 7pm and along with it comes four new presenters.

John O’Neill, originally from Co. Meath and after a long stint in England has returned to Ireland and now lives in Doonbeg. John is interested in all sports especially GAA, horseracing and golf. He got involved in Ráidio Corca Baiscinn through Michael O’Connell, who asked him to come in and do a ten minute presentation and is still there! John’s “Beat the Bookie” on the sports show is gaining momentum and is now known to actually have a few winners!

Paddy Collins is a native of Kilkee. He is hugely involved in the West Clare Currach Club and he too was asked by Michael to come to the station and speak about Currach racing. He was handed a set of headphones and that was it; he was hooked. Paddy’s job on the show is to make sure every sport played in the peninsula is covered on the programme and to stop the GAA heads taking over!

Paul Kenny hails from Coolmeen and is an avid sports fan. He is involved in GAA and has been known to referee a game or two! His knowledge of sport is comparable  to all the greats, even Jimmy Magee! Paul is currently doing a course in Media Studies in University of Limerick but will be back on the airwaves before you know it.

Niomh Madigan moved to Clare three years ago from Dublin. She has been involved in GAA for a number of years and is currently with Kilrush Minor GAA Club. She has a great interest in all sports not just the GAA. Niomh became involved through a training group with the Kilrush Women’s Group and Raidió Corca Baiscinn when approached by Ray Cuddihy, RCB’s Volunteer Coordinator.

Behind the scenes, Conan Brophy is the main man that keeps these four presenters cool calm and collected!!
