Boyzone singer Ronan Keating and his wife Yvonne have today announced an end to their 12 years of marriage.

The split, which is said to be amicable, comes just months after 33 year old Keating lost his close friend and bandmate Stephen Gately.

A statement issued on the couple's behalf today said: "With great sadness, Ronan and Yvonne Keating today announce their separation.  The separation is amicable and they will continue to work together in order to provide the best for their children…The family ask for privacy at this difficult time."

The couple have have three children, Jack, Marie and Ali.

Just days before the split, the boyzone frontman admitted to having rages of jealousy.  The Daily Mirror quotes Keating as having said: "I can’t believe Yvonne has stuck with me for so long...I still get incredibly jealous. The green-eyed monster rears its ugly head and brings out all my insecurities...I don’t like it if Yvonne is out without me. I just can’t help it.”
