Mayor Of Ennis Welcomes Lead Piping Announcement

Mayor of Ennis, Councillor Michael Guilfoyle has welcomed the Department of the Environment’s decision to give the green light for the replacement of lead watermains in Marian Avenue, Linnane Terrace and Aherne Terrace in Ennis.
Mayor Guilfoyle said the Department’s announcement was a positive development for residents in the three areas concerned, and paved the way for Clare County Council to commence work on the €233,154 contract.

The Mayor commented: “I welcome Minister Phil Hogan’s approval this week of Clare County Council’s proposals for Advance Works for Water Mains Replacement of lead distribution mains at Marian Avenue, Linnane Terrace and Aherne Terrace. This project relates to approximately 120 homes in Ennis.”

“I now look forward to the Council, which is the water services authority in Ennis, securing additional funding to carry out similar works at other locations throughout the town”, he added.

A total of 541 metres of new 100mm diameter uPVC watermain is being installed along with Moling / Directional Drilling for 76 services and open cut construction for another 8 services.
