Volvo is carrying out a voluntary safety recall of a number of models due to a potential fault related to the driver’s airbag.
An electrical short circuit within a connector could result in the "Airbag System Service Required" message appearing within the Driver’s Information Module (DIM) and the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) lamp would light up. If this occurs, the driver's airbag would not deploy as intended, should it be required.
The recall affects 173 Volvos in Ireland, namely S60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 Volvos.
What to do
Letters will be sent to the owners of the affected vehicles informing them of the recall and asking that they arrange for an appointment to have any required work completed.
Consumers can also contact their nearest Volvo dealer. The work carried out as part of this recall will be completed free of charge.
