Start-up Firms Targeted By UL Venture Programme

The University of Limerick has commenced the search for a batch of start-up businesses to enroll in the 2010 / 2011 Venture Programme.

The programme has been developed to assist businesses and entrepreneurs get started and grow to become the economic drivers of the future.

Speaking at the Programme Launch Professor Brian Fitzgerald said "we have had a really successful year of spin-outs and technology commercialisation, we want to maintain this translational research momentum through the launch of a programme which reaches outside the campus".

The UL Venture Programme will allow successful applicants to benefit from mentoring and presentations by experts at the Kemmy Business School at UL as well as from a number of leading Irish business people. Mentors with expertise in marketing, finance, personnel, engineering and science will provide guidance and experience, working with the participants to shape their ideas into scaleable businesses.

The intake will be limited to 10 businesses. The main entry criteria for applicants will include demonstrating an ability to form a scaleable and knowledge intensive business. Applications close on Friday September 24th.
