Scariff-Ogonnelloe beat Kilkishen by 1-9 to 0-4 with Sarah O’Donnell top scoring with 1-3 for the winners.
Perhaps the game of the round saw reigning champions Kilmaley have to fight off a stern Clooney-Quin challenge (3-4 to 1-8). Deirdre Murphy scored 1-7 for Clooney-Quin including 1-5 in the first half as her side had a 1-6 to 0-2 lead at the interval. Kilmaley were always going to come fighting back in the second half and this they did with three goals arriving from the 50th to 55th minutes thanks to Clare McMahon (2) and Ailish Considine.
Sixmilebridge easily beat Bodyke-Tulla (3-22 to 1-5) with Naomi Carroll (2-8), Chloe Morey (0-7) to the fore. Orla Fitzgerald got her team’s third goal. Ann-Marie Fitzgerald was the combinations best player accounting for all of her side’s scores. The other game in this group saw Newmarket ease past Wolfe Tones (4-25 to 1-0) with the Kaisers, McMahon’s and O’Leary’s to the fore.
