Clare Senior B Football Semi Finals Preview

Sports - Gaelic Games

Ennistymon v St. Joseph’s Miltown Malbay @ Quilty

These two sides came close to qualifying for the last eight of the championship proper and while they will both naturally be disappointed by that, they will hope to make sure they are there on county final day contesting the B final.

A number of excellent players will be on display this weekend including the likes of Michael Barry, Eoin Curtin, Gordon and Gordon Kelly and Dessie Molohan (Miltown) along with Lawrence Healy, Danny Rouine, Sean McConigley, Joey Dowling and Michael O’Loughlin (Ennistymon).

Interestingly the last time these two sides clashed in the Senior B was in the 2007 final when a Dessie Molohan goal clinched a first Senior B crown for Miltown. Ennistymon lost out to Kilmihil last year and will hope to go one better this year but it is hard to see them beat Miltown.

Verdict:
St. Joseph’s Miltown Malbay

Kilrush Shamrocks v Wolfe Tones @ Lissycasey

Kilrush came close to qualifying for the latter stages while in the case of Wolfe Tones if they had performed in round 1 and 2 like they did in their last game against Kilmihil then they might be in the quarter final of the Senior.

It could prove to be an exciting game with Kilrush expected the get the nod. The Garry Cup champions are a formidable side on their day with the likes of John Hayes, Donal O’Sullivan, Ruairi O’Connor, Chris Dixon and Peader McMahon in their ranks. The Tones will look to Kevin Cahill, Johnny Bridges, Chris Dunning, Daniel Gallery and Gary Leahy to lead the way.

Verdict: Kilrush
