In the Intermediate hurling championship Killanena produced the performance of the round when they dumped favourites Eire Og out of the race for the championship.
The Flaherty brothers were a major threat throughout with Mark (0-8) and Ronan (1-2) contributing handsomely to the 2-14 to 2-8 victory.
Another plus for the east Clare side was the return of Enda Collins from injury and he marked his return in style with a goal. Eire Og had their goals from Graham Glynn and Fergus Flynn. Killanena will now play Sixmilebridge after the “Bridge” saw off the challenge of Clooney-Quin by 2-15 to 0-12. Alan Mulready and Ronan Hayes had their side’s goals in the second half.
Clarecastle are also through to the last four after they defeated Bodyke by 1-14 to 1-9. The goals in this game came from Fergal Griffin (Clarecastle) and Kieran Walsh (Bodyke).
In the last four the “Magpies” will play Ruan after they beat Parteen by 1-14 to 0-13 with the impressive Michael Vaughan scoring the all-important Ruan goal.
