Golfers who tee off in Shannon Chamber’s annual Golf Classic on Monday, 21 June at Shannon Golf Club will have brightness on their sides as they ‘putt’ their golfing to the test on the longest day of the year, Midsummer day.
Over 120 golfers have already signed up to put their drivers, irons and putters to the test to secure one of the many great prizes on offer from the sponsors, Dromoland Castle and Premier Group, and from a host of other generous supporters of this annual day of sport, fun and networking.
The Classic is the chamber’s main annual fundraising event and, once again, is attracting entries from chamber members, their business associates and clients from Clare, the Mid-West and other parts of the country. The chamber is encouraging non-members to participate and to avail of a great opportunity to link up with business people and develop new business relationships. As well as the option to enter a team, businesses can also sponsor a tee and support this event in many ways.
“They say that driving is for show and putting is for dough,” said Helen Downes, Shannon Chamber’s chief executive. “We may not have the ‘dough’ to hand out but we have some really great prizes, which range from a get-away break, plus golf, in Dromoland Castle Hotel, flights from Aer Lingus Regional, complimentary golf in many of Ireland’s leading golf courses, dinners and lunches in quality restaurants, golf gear, and vouchers; the prizes are still coming in so the golfers should be out practising their long drives, and aiming for birdies on every hole. We appreciate the support of all sponsors and players; their involvement as backers and players gives the chamber the wherewithal to plan an interesting and relevant calendar of events in the year ahead. ”
Dromoland Castle’s Simon Hodgson said that the hotel is delighted to be a sponsor of the Golf Classic. “We look forward to the continued support of all the golfers who will enjoy the Classic and know that our prize winners will have an incredible experience when they stay at Dromoland Castle and test their skills on our challenging golf course.”
Premier Group’s Cahir O'Leary, who has been supporting the Classic for the past four years, said that the company welcomes this annual opportunity to give something back to the business community in Shannon and the surrounding district.
“Premier Group has been providing a diverse range of professional recruitment services to blue chip clients across many industries in the area since 1988. We’re looking forward to an enjoyable day of golf,” she added.
With in excess of 200 members and representing the majority of businesses in the greater Shannon area, Shannon Chamber continues to make an impact at local, regional and national levels on behalf of its members. The annual Golf Classic is an opportunity for members and non-members to take some down time and mingle in an informal setting.
