Ballinruan jockey Kieren Fallon is reportedly considering legal action against a racehorse owner who attacked him following a race at Lingfield on Saturday.
The former champion jockey's solicitor, Christopher Stewart-Moore, consulted a barrister over the matter yesterday.
David Reynolds, joint-owner of beaten favourite The Scorching Wind, has admitted to striking Fallon while the six-times Champion jockey was unsaddling his horse Elna Bright following the second race of the day. Reynolds is said to have been angered by Fallon’s scrimmaging with The Scorching Wind during the race. Reynolds was escorted from the track by security guards and stewards launched an inquiry immediately after the incident.
It is understood that Fallon is considering legal action due to personal concerns that Saturday’s attack might lead to copycat incidents in the future.
Fallon, who later went on to ride in the Winter Derby, spoke to reporters immediately following the incident. “He came up behind me when I was unsaddling but I'm all right - he hits like a girl! I don't know what it was about…Unfortunately, you are not able to retaliate. I used to do some boxing in my younger days and I know how to defend myself. He needs to take some boxing lessons anyway”, he said.
