Horse owner David Reynolds’ altercation with Ballinruan jockey Kieren Fallon at Lingfield last Saturday has resulted in him being called before the British Horseracing Authority.
Reynolds will attend a hearing on Monday next after being formally charged with two breaches of the rules of racing in relation to the incident, which took place following the Sportingbet Support Heros "Super 7" Handicap.
David Reynolds, joint-owner of beaten favourite The Scorching Wind, has admitted to striking Fallon while the six-times Champion jockey was unsaddling his horse Elna Bright following the second race of the day. Reynolds is said to have been angered by Fallon’s scrimmaging with The Scorching Wind during the race. Reynolds was escorted from the track by security guards and stewards launched an inquiry immediately after the incident.
Fallon, who later went on to ride in the Winter Derby, spoke to reporters immediately following the incident. “He came up behind me when I was unsaddling but I'm all right - he hits like a girl! I don't know what it was about…Unfortunately, you are not able to retaliate. I used to do some boxing in my younger days and I know how to defend myself. He needs to take some boxing lessons anyway”, he said.
