Dettori And Fallon To Battle It Out For Championship

Frankie Dettori has indicated his intention to ride 150 winners this season which puts him in direct competition with Clare jockey Kieren Fallon for the Flat Jockeys' Championship.

Betting firm Skybet has cut the 39-year-old Italian’s odds from 20-1 to 12-1 over the weekend following indications from Dettori that he will make an attempt to capture his fourth title if he can gain some momentum. Dettori travelled from the Dubai World Cup  for one ride at the Doncaster meeting yesterday where he finished fourth of Gay Kelleway's Faldal.

Dettori’s agent Ray Cochrane said: 'We are going to go for a few more winners. He has got the support of the Darley-owned runners at Mark Johnston's and his horses are running well. With Frankie, if the team are in good form the title is always a possibility, but you don't start thinking about it until halfway through the season.'

Skybet presently have reigning champion Ryan Moore at 4-9 favourite and Ballinruan’s Kieren Fallon at 7-2.
