A British horse owner has been disqualified from racing for three months and fined 11,000 euro after being fould guilty of violent conduct against Clare jockey Kieren Fallon.
David Reynolds appeared before the British Horseracing Authority today in connection with the altercation, which took place following the Sportingbet Support Heros "Super 7" Handicap at Lingfield 10 days ago.
Reynolds, who is joint-owner of beaten favourite The Scorching Wind, has previously admitted to striking Fallon while the six-times Champion jockey was unsaddling his horse Elna Bright following the second race of the day. Reynolds is said to have been angered by the Ballinruan rider's scrimmaging with The Scorching Wind during the race. Reynolds was escorted from the track by security guards and stewards launched an inquiry immediately after the incident.
Speaking following today’s hearing, Paul Struthers of the British Horseracing Authority commented: “The entry point penalty for violent conduct toward an official is a fine of 5,600 euro or a disqualification of three months, so the panel has gone above the entry point by disqualifying Mr Reynolds for that period and, in addition to that ban, fining him 11,000 euro.”
