The 2nd annual Sports Science and Medicine Update 2010 takes places in Thomond Park on the 28th August.
The conference aims to bridge the divide between research and practice in the hope of enhancing knowledge of Sports Science and Medicine. It will entail a series of short lectures on topical areas in Sport with time for questions and discussion after each presentation.
“This is an invaluable opportunity for players, coaches and all the support staff involved in sport to gain unique access to experienced medical professionals” according to Dr. John O’Dea, one of the speakers at the conference. “Pricing has been kept very reasonable at €30 per delegate and a club rate of €75 for 3 delegates” added John.
The Mid West region boasts some accomplished athletes, clubs and consultants in the fields of Sport Medicine. Amongst the speakers on the day will be Dr. JP Donohoe, Munster Rugby team doctor, Donnacha Ryan, Chartered Physiotherapist and Sports dietitian, Paul Gough.
Two time World Champion and Olympic rower, Dr. Sam Lynch, a native of Limerick will also present on the role of the athlete in injury prevention and recovery.
