UL Honours Grainne Murphy
The University of Limerick has held a reception in honour of European Senior Silver Medallist, Grainne Murphy.
Gráinne was presented a commemorative silver plate in recognition of her achievements by UL President, Professor Don Barry.
Last month, Gráinne brought home the Silver Medal at the 1500m freestyle and broke the national record in the 800m event by losing out on a medal by an agonising five hundredths of a second to take fourth place.
The 17 year old swimmer from Ballinaboola, Co. Wexford trains under Ronald Claes, coach of the High Performance Swim Team based at the University Arena, UL - home to Ireland's first Olympic size 50 metre pool.
The support team together with the facilities available at the University Arena equip some of Ireland's top swimmers with everything they need to reach their potential as elite swimmers.
