East Clare Eagles Soar To New Heights

East Clare Under 11's rugby team had the honour of representing Clare on Saturday last in Thomond park against a Kerry selection.

The game took place during the half time interval when Munster took on and beat the Osprey team in the Magniers league. 

The East Clare Eagles won the match by three tries to two.

The East Clare Eagles represent Tulla Rugby Club at mini rugby with under 8s, under 9s, under 10s, under 11s and under 12s Teams. The club was formed 5 years ago and plays its home games at the Canons Field in Tulla.

The East Clare Eagles have players from a wide area of East Clare including the villages of Broadford, Feakle, Killkisin and Tulla. While a young club, it has an active underage structure and has up to 60 boys and girls registered as players.

The club have an effective management committee who co-ordinate activities led by President John Noonan and Chairman Darragh Molloy.  There is a strong coaching team in place comprising of Ned Mc Sweeney,  Jim O Sullivan, Edmund Jennings, Angela Floyd, John O Sullivan, Billy Murphy, Fintan Mc Entee, Billy O Mahony and John Kearney.

A club spokesperson said: “The East Clare Eagles are determined to grow as a strong mini rugby club and hope to increase the number of boys and girls that train and play each week and extend the range of teams as our players mature. To achieve this we need more players from our catchment area and more adult members on our committees and as coaches to support our growth.”

“We invite players and their parents to come along to our training sessions on Sunday morning at 11 am to the Canons Field in Tulla”, the spokesperson added.
